Equipment Automation Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Automation Technician to own and maintain advanced automated systems in our client's assembly and packaging processes. This role is critical to keeping our client's multi-million-dollar equipment running smoothly, particularly during early shift hours when engineering support is not on-site. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is motivated to work with cutting-edge automation technology. 1st Shift- 5AM-330PM

Job Title: Equipment Automation Technician
Location: Minnetonka, MN
Pay Rate: 40-45hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full ownership of automated equipment, including setup, shutdown, and troubleshooting.
  • First-line troubleshooting of PLCs, HMI interfaces, and mechanical/automation issues.
  • Manual feeding and operation of the automated line as needed to maintain production flow.
  • Assist in bringing new loading automation online
  • Maintain high operational efficiency of automated assembly and packaging systems.
  • Support both current manual and future fully automated packaging operations, ensuring traceability and quality compliance.
Automation & Equipment Environment:
  • Fully automated assembly lines with integrated quality checks; all verification is machine-driven.
  • Current packaging processes are more manual; future automation will significantly reduce labor requirements.
  • This role is key to the transition toward highly automated systems, reducing a 5-6 person operation to 1-2 people.


Candidate Requirements:
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience preferred; strong candidates with 2-3 years of relevant experience and education will also be considered.
  • Background in automated equipment, ideally in life sciences, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Comfortable working with PLCs, controllers, and HMIs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to independently troubleshoot during early-shift hours.
  • Project leadership experience is a plus (people leadership not required).
